5 Things You Learn After Graduating High School

With everyone starting their new paths you tend to learn a lot.

The Separation Between Real And Fake

One thing you learn after not being around the same 30-40 kids every day, is that bonds start to change. Whether it's with a significant other, friendship, or with a certain type of thing, it can be very awkward or sometimes very heartbreaking. In a special/weird kind of way though, it forces you to mature and it makes you wiser. You learn how to be sort of be subject to change and to also face the reality that people can leave your life at any moment. I feel like friendships became more valuable to me because you are forced to put in more effort and if you care about someone you'll put in the effort.

Unexpected Friendships

Even though my two topics are contradicting each other, I promise this will make sense. Leaving high school, I would've never thought I would be friends with some of the people that I am friends with now. With everyone moving away and starting their lives, people are being forced to grow up and try new things... like friendships. Not being tied to reputation or just high school, in general, can give you this sense of freedom. It's like having a clean start and personally, I think it's kind of refreshing and exciting. One thing you HAVE to learn is to not close yourself off and let people into your life.

WAIT.....  MAYBE I LIKE TO PAINT!!!!!!

No matter what you after high school, you're going to learn the most about yourself and you will also have a lot of free time. Being bored is going to be very common, so maybe you can pick a hobby or something that expresses your interests. It's nice to have something new to be excited to do and be obsessed with. It's also could be a good conversation starter and can also open you up to a new community that you never would've imagined.

Adulting

Even though a lot of us turn 18 while in high school, you still don't face the real world until you're out of school. You learn how to be independent, you're forced to get a job and you start to have to pay bills. Being responsible is very necessary and you are kind of forced to be. Even though being an adult sucks, the best part is that you can do whatever you want and can control your surroundings more.

Expand Your Horizons

Lastly, don't be afraid to expand your horizons. I know things are scary and new things can be hard to adjust to, but it is indeed worth it. Those big leaps are worth it in the end, even if you have to attempt it more than once. Don't be afraid to start over again or even make the first move. Always make sure to find new things to explore because learning is the gift that keeps giving.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions.
