Life Advice From Cristina Yang

You either want to be her or want her to be your best friend. Let's be honest, Cristina Yang is everything you aspire to be in life. You'd be silly not to take her life lessons to heart. She has the answer to pretty much any problem you could ever have. There are so many important life lessons from Cristina Yang. She's a very complex individual, but she is completely relatable at the same time. Here is some life advice from Cristina Yang that I'm sure will be valuable forever.

1. "Oh, screw beautiful, I’m brilliant. If you want to appease me, compliment my brain. Pretty is not enough. I want to be great."

Strive for brilliance. It's very important to be ambitious, to set high goals for yourself and to never give up. That moment when you find your passion and capabilities, there's nothing that you can't do.

2. "Don't let what he wants eclipse what you need. He's very dreamy, but he's not the sun, you are."

Don't let a guy stop you from achieving greatness or make you feel like you have to be a lesser version of yourself. Sometimes your light shines so bright that it blinds people and that's okay.

3. "Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone here, and don't give a damn what anyone thinks. There are no teams here, no buddies. You're on your own. Be on your own."

Being straightforward and honest is the best thing that you can do. What's the point of having a voice and not using it? Stand up for yourself and let your opinions and thoughts be heard. Your voice matters, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Have the drive to be anything you want, succeed in what feeds your soul and be great.

4. "There comes a point where it all becomes too much. When we get too tired to fight anymore. So we give up. That's when the real work begins"

Find hope where there seems to be absolutely none at all. There are times in your life where you feel as though all hope is lost but know that it'll be okay. There's always that shining ray of hope, maybe even a glimmer, but it's there. Try to find the positives in your situation even when you feel as though their aren't any.

5. "Being aware of your crap, and actually overcoming your crap are two very different things."

The first step to getting yourself together is knowing acknowledging the crap that is going on in your life. From there, overcoming is is just a matter of self preservation and a little self motivation. Don't give up - you can do it!

6. "If you want crappy things to stop happening to you, then stop accepting crap and demand something more."

Never take less than you deserve. Don't let anyone treat you horribly and let a good opportunity pass you by. Demand more because you deserve it.

7. "Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing?"

There will be points in your life where you feel completely conflicted and unsure what to do next. It's important to know that this is normal and everything will always work out. You don't always have to have your life together 24/7, nobody does.

8. "If I murdered someone, she's the person I'd call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. She's my person"

Everyone needs to have that person whom we can always count on no matter what. Cristina taught us that it's totally okay to need someone. The strongest people still have someone to break down to and talk about their hopes and dreams.

9. "Take a look around. Nothing's normal"

Normalcy is overrated. The greatest people in this world aren't normal so you're not alone. Trust me, Cristina was far from normal and she turned out just fine. Don't beat yourself up about being like everyone else. Dare to be different.

10. "Everything isn't so perfectly right, or perfectly wrong"

Cristina Yang wants to remind you that everything isn't black or white anymore. Life has grey areas and sometimes it's hard to make decisions because of it. Make the best choice that you can and if it doesn't work out you can learn from it.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
