Library Lockdown 101

What you need to survive your move to the library.

Hello, dorm dwellers! It’s almost finals weekend which means you are probably going to be on a library lockdown soon. Whether it is cramming for your oh-so-dreaded final exam or pulling an all-nighter for a 14-page final paper, locking yourself in the library towards the end of the semester is completely normal (and we have all been there). When it comes to those long library days, make sure you go prepared! This is war with your finals! (I’m just kidding.) But, to lock down the most from your library lockdown, don’t forget to bring the following minions with you.

  1. Hot Coffee. No-brainer right? Grab a Venti of your favorite flavor of coffee or try some new flavors. If you inhale coffee like I do, grab four Ventis. Once you have coffee as your ammunition, you’re set to grind and you won’t want to leave!
  2. Your planner(s) and a notebook. Now is not the time to be jotting down notes on tissues (I say this because I’ve done this) and post-its. It’s time to gather everything up, get organized and be ready to slay those exams!
  3. Headphones and Chargers. Okay this is important. You need to make sure that you are not leaving yourself with excuses to have to pack up and cheat on your lockdown session before you have learned everything you need for Chem 1307 (or whatever you are studying for). You will be more likely to retain your sanity with your favorite ‘study-music’ playlist and more effectively study if you have your trusty headphones and laptop charger in your backpack.
  4. Fuzzy Socks. I went to Walmart and invested in a bunch of these cozy musts. We all know the library isn’t the coziest place (if at all), so you may have to resist the temptation to leave for your much cozy bed. To ward off the tempting nap, put on a pair of fuzzy socks! Bonus points for fun patterns and prints (or Christmas themed ones).
  5. Treats. So, ice cream and a Hershey’s bar isn't the most practical or healthy library option, but desperate times call for desperate measures. After all, during exams you gotta get your kicks where you can! Be sure to stock up on fruits, granola bars, protein bars, water and at least one splurge to keep yourself motivated. Maybe go for something less melt-worthy like gummy bears or sour gummy worms.

You ready? Okay, it’s time to move to the library! Get ready to slay!

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
