In present day, when most people think of Christians, the first thought that usually comes to their mind is that they're fairly Conservative. While this is mostly true, this is not always the case.
Liberal Christianity is something that most people see as a contradiction to the entire concept of Christianity in that, in society's eyes, in order to be a Christian you also have to be a conservative. When people think about any of this, they go to the extreme of what society has labeled us as in order to divide us.
One topic that most people think that Christians as a whole agree on is that gay marriage is a sin, which is incorrect. As a Christian, I don't think that there is anything wrong with being gay in any way, shape or form. Seeing as there are a lot worse things out there in the world that we as a society should be focusing on than inhibiting the basic human rights of other people. It really doesn't matter if someone is gay. Shouldn't it be that we judge people based on their morals and their character, not on who they are dating?
Another huge issue for Christians is Planned Parenthood, which most seem to have a problem with for some reason.
The reason that Christians have a problem with Planned Parenthood is that they think that they use the abortions that they perform and then proceed to sell the body parts on the black market, which is ridiculous in the first place. Really, who comes up with this kind of stuff? First off, the only reason that this rumor came to being is because somewhere on social media there was a post that stated that the bone marrow of aborted fetuses were used for stem cell research for cancer. Secondly, Planned Parenthood does a lot more than just abortions which most Christians seem to ignore completely for some reason.
Nowadays, people tend to clump together and stereotype groups of people, and they think that if you are this type of person, you absolutely have to fit these prerequisites for this category. That just seems to be very strange. Call me weird, but I was under the impression that everyone was different and that they don't necessarily have to fit into any category. Christians are no exception.
Christians come in all shapes and sizes from liberal to conservative, Democratic to Republican, and everywhere in between. Why is it then that if you claim to be a Christian and are also liberal and Democratic you get a look like you have three heads? Maybe it's because you don't seem to follow every rule set in the bible, but let me ask you, are you able to do that? Don't call me out on sin if you also have things you need to work on as well.
