Toxic people can severely harm your mental health. Toxic people can be borderline or completely abusive. You have to care about your mental well being like your physical well being. You would walk away from someone physically abusive, right? So you can walk away from someone mentally abusive as well. They are just as harmful to be around.
It is okay to end a family relationship because the person is toxic, they aren't good for your well being and the rest of your family should understand. It's okay to end a long friendship because the person is toxic, you will always have the good memories, and it's okay to let go of that person.
