A Letter To My Younger Self

Or anyone else who needs some advice

A Letter To My Younger Self

Hey you,

Good things come to those who wait. Stop wishing away your life and actually live it.

Stop wishing you were graduating and moving away from "this horrible town" because you have four whole years to make memories meet friends and accomplish everything you need to get to college. Plus, you know you love where you came from.

You are who you are,and there can never be another you. Stop overthinking everything you do because believe it or not no one is going to remember that super embarrassing thing that you did on that one Tuesday your freshman year of high school. People are going to remember how you made them feel so, be empathetic and remember that you cant ever judge a book by its cover. Unless its a movie "based" off a book, then its never good- unless its Harry Potter that's the one exception to that rule.

Stop trying to impress other people so much, impress your self. Push yourself, but give yourself a break every once in awhile. AP classes look good on college apps but only if you don't have a mental break down before you make it to college.

You are not "too good" to go to a junior college-because that's where you end up, but it's also where you get super involved on campus, gain a lot of experience, and meet a ton of amazing people.

Do NOT ever be ashamed of who you are. Be loud, be sensitive, be crazy, be quirky. Be who you are and love who you are with your whole heart. Hiding things that you might not particularly like about yourself is just time consuming and stressful. It's so much easier to just be you, and trust me you will find people that appreciate you in all your glory.

Work hard and don't ever stop pushing yourself, trust me you'll be grateful later. Put your whole heart into the things that you do. Love people wholly and unconditionally. You're going to have your heart broken a few times, sometimes by boys, sometimes by friends and sometimes by your family and even sometimes by yourself. But sometimes falling apart gives you a chance to put your pieces back together in a different way and build yourself up.

Don't worry about whether or not you "fit in". If everyone looked and acted the same the world would be an extremely boring place. The Earth needs you and your spark. You will never please yourself if you are constantly trying to please other people instead. You need to stand up for what you believe in and show the world the beauty of what makes you unique.

Stop worrying so damn much. The future is going to happen the way that its going to happen. All you need to worry about is making sure you live the best life you can.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
