"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"
- President Woodrow Wilson
Dear Veterans,
First of all, I want to say thank you. No, seriously thank you. Thank you for sacrificing your time, your freedom, and risking your life for all of us. I cannot imagine what it was like being in war. I have read history books and seen news about terrible attacks that our men and women went through. I believe our veterans deserve more than a day; they deserve more than a month, heck, more than a year! Veterans should be recognized every day, even our men and women who are serving this country today.
Another well deserved thank you is to your family. A veteran's family can be overlooked, but they also made a big sacrifice as well. They had loved ones who are willing to serve and protect the United States of America. I have had a couple of friends whose dad, mother, brother, sister, uncle, or aunt would be away for more than two years. It's hard not see your loved ones everyday and not knowing if they will make it back alive and well. To the families who went through those emotional hardships, we thank you. We should support them as well.
To those who have seen our men and women in uniform or wearing military hats from where and when they served, please shake their hands and thank them. Don't just thank them for their sacrifice but thank our veterans for serving with red, white, and blue pride into battle. Our veterans and veteran's family have been through so much. Thank you again
