A Letter That I Wish I Could Write To My Younger Self

Dear Younger Self,

Keep your head high. You're going to be faced with typical mean girls and cliche high school drama, but remember to keep your head high through whatever you face and never allow anyone to make you feel as if you're less important. Friends will come and go, but I PROMISE the best ones will stay by your side no matter what you're going through.

You're going to meet amazing people who open your eyes to thousands of different possibilities, and they will create their own space in your heart. Anxiety is and will be cruel, but don't let it consume you. Allow it to help you analyze situations differently and openly. There will come a point in time where it may feel like it's the only thing surrounding you, but your perseverance and dedication will break down any barriers that are holding you back. Know that not every situation is your fault and sometimes can be completely out of your control. Just because you've found yourself in a rough place doesn't necessarily mean it's your fault, but remember to always trust in God, and that He put you in that situation for a reason. And never lose your faith in Him. Life may get a little bumpy and the road may take a few stray and unexpected turns, but He is the only one who will remain a constant.

Even those best friends you swore would never fail you will unintentionally hurt you sometimes, but never question who you are because of it.

The world is going to get VERY ugly, but don't allow it to change your beliefs or how you see yourself. Don't be afraid to stand up to those who try to silence you because your opinion should be heard and your feelings are valid, too. And remember to love. To continue to love deeply and unconditionally because it will make life a million times better.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
