A Letter To Those With Huge Dreams

You Can Have Everything You Want In Life

A Letter To Those With Huge Dreams

Dear Dreamer,

I know people say that anything is possible, but anything really is possible. I've accomplished things that I used to dream about when I was younger. I've seen my dreams unfold slowly and yours can too. Anyone's dream can become a reality and all it takes is determination and perseverance. No matter many odds are against you, no matter how in debt you are, how lost you think you are, how hopeless it seems, anything and everything you could ever want to happen can happen and it comes from faith and ability. if you have a thirst for life and an unshaken and unwavering belief in yourself you will become the best person you could ever be and you will realize how much you have grown and what all you have accomplished. Even if you are poor in finances or intelligence you can learn and you can earn. No matter your situation or the harm that life has done to you there is hope and it starts with having confidence in life and in yourself. You have to always try, you have to always believe and I promise you, you can accomplish anything your heart sets out to do. We have seen the impossible becomes the quite possible: we have seen men walk on the moon, we have seen people go from rags to riches and we have gone so far in the amount of time we have been on this earth. Anything and everything is possible and surround yourself with people who deeply believe in this as well. Do not ever let anyone tell you you can't do something because you can. I think there are walking examples of an impossible reality and I like to think that that word is nonexistent in itself. We have seen innovations in science and medicine and technology that people wouldn't have even dreamed of 200 years ago. We have seen the unexpected become the norm and nations that were weak grow strong and become independent. Each years brings new opportunities and new discoveries, hell, each day and even each hour brings a possibility for you to achieve what you've been dearly hoping for. Please take ahold of each minute and live it to its fullest and bask in it and realize that if you work harder than you ever have for what you want, it will be yours. Please don't ever look back and don't ever stop dreaming just because life hurts you or people try to tell you you're no good. It's people like you that propel our society forward, who create cures for diseases and who think of ways to perpetuate our existence. Just remember, you can move mountains and you can part seas and you can become the person you've always wanted to be because anything is possible.

Sincerely,

A fellow dreamer

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
