A Letter To Seniors In High School

Dear seniors.

This is going to be your most crucial and most rewarding semester of your school career. It will be filled with joy and frustration and so much sadness. You will have your heart broken by your friends because you may never see them after graduation, and I promise you. The brokenness that your friends bring you, will be way worse than any breakup you’ve ever been through.

Your classes will seem like an ease this semester and homework a breeze, but enjoy it. Enjoy the life of a high schooler, enjoy the easy homework, and the ease of thinking about graduation and prom. Remember what is going on with you, remember how you’re going to be this time next year. Weather that be college or something else. Everything is going to be different this time next year, You will be away from everything you grew up with and know. You won’t understand what is happening when everything starts to change.

Prom may seem like an easy to you, but believe me. Senior year prom is going to be so stressful, You want everything to be perfect for your prom. The perfect dress, date, tux, everything. Remember that your mom is going to want to help you do everything. And this is the one of last times she will be able, so be sure to let her. Let her fix your hair, or your tie and take pictures with her; take so many pictures with her. You will appreciate those more than you’ll ever know. Remember you dad may not understand prom as much, but still take plenty of pictures with him too, remember that he cares about you so much, even if you don't understand him sometimes.

Graduation is going to be soo boring, For you and for everyone else except for the parents. Sitting their for 3+ hours hearing names being called and 1 person getting up at a time, it’s really not that exciting. Also, master the walk in. Teacher WILL laugh at you if you mess up, believe me, my walking partner and I were not the most in sync people. But it’s worth it in the end, you’ll look back and realize it was kind of a boring time, but worth it once you get that diploma.

This time in your life is going to be amazing, don’t waste it. Don’t waste the time you have with your friends, because you will miss them so much. Especially if you're 7 hours away from your hometown like me. Life is going to be changing for you, so enjoy every moment you have and cherish them.

Sincerely,

Someone who was in your shoes this time last year.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
