"You're a warrior. Warriors don't give up and they don't back down. Pick up your sword and shield and fight."

Dear beautiful lady,

It's not always easy being human and life is most definitely not always smooth sailing. You, my darling, are experiencing that right now. I know that you are going through a monumental trial and that sometimes just existing can be exhausting. Things can get scary, lonely, depressing, heartbreaking, stressful and just plain overwhelming. Sometimes these feelings can take over us and they threaten to drown us in our own emotion. I know you're feeling these things, but I want you to remember that this isn't your first battle. I've seen you conquer so many obstacles in life, and this is your gentle reminder that you are so much stronger than you think you are. You have gone through the tunnel many times, and come out on the other side with a smile on your face. So lovely lady, I want you to know that you can do this, that you will get through this, and that you are tough enough to fight this battle. I can't pretend to know or understand the trial that you are fighting, but I believe in you and that's why I'm writing this letter.

Here are some reminders to keep you positive.

God is your Father.

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

-Isaiah 41:10

This is your God. He loves you and He will always be there for you. Pray to Him in the hard times, the good times, and the bad times. Believe that He will take care of you and rest in Him.

You are a warrior.

You have gotten through so many battles in your life already. Do not let this one force you into giving up. You are strong. You are brave. You are a fighter.

You are NOT alone.

Sometimes life can get lonely. Remember that you have family everywhere; some of us are at work, some of us are at home, and some of us are all over the place, but needless to say, we are ALL here for you. We love you. Don't be afraid to reach out.

Your life is precious.

Do not give up. Sometimes it may be easier to say that life's not worth the fight, but my darling it is. Your life has made such an impact in the world. Please remember how special you are to all of us.

One day at a time.

Wonderful woman, do not look ahead at the challenges that lie in the future, but focus on the now. Worrying about the future cannot help you. Enjoy the day as it is and live in the moment. Think positive thoughts and rest in the support of your loved ones.

You are beautiful.

Even with time, even with trials, even with whatever excuse you may give me, I want you to know that you are and always will be beautiful.

You are loved.

.....and don't you forget it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
