A Letter To The Odyssey
Taylor Diebold

Dear Odyssey Online,

First of all i want to applaud this organization for growing as fast as it does and giving the millennial generation a place where they feel safe to place their opinions and write about new events going on in our country. It's not often you hear that someone you know gets to write and have it published online, unless its a blog that also may not get a lot of traffic. I am proud to say I am apart of something so incredible with a fast growing pace. It's awesome to know just about every college or university has their own branch and we are given the opportunity to understand their perspectives of their communities.

The reason I am thankful for the Odyssey is because of what it has done for myself personally. It has shown me that I have a certain drive to accomplish great things. For my branch here at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke I have began the process to get us officially chartered on campus to also be a campus organization. This allows me to set up on campus and get more content creators from all different departments here at UNCP. I have also learned that when I put my mind to something I can complete it or do it. I learned this because of constantly having something to remember to do or worry about something has given me a work conscious. Randomly I will be sitting thinking I have to text my team or edit articles or send out constant reminders and make sure we are up to date. Also the connection thing is huge for me too. My managing editor is one of the coolest people who allows me to blab about my problems of the week, talk about the future and also discuss our personal views on certain topics that have gone on that week. He connects all of his EIC's for the schools he manages which gives us many connections too and also allows us to come together when our certain team is having an issue and help get advice or new ideas on how to make things work.

I think I am most appreciative for the Odyssey because I have never had the opportunity to start something from the bottom and make it work its way up to have a functioning thing such as my team. Of course it was hard to get things moving and to get the word out about what we do and why we do it and to also keep people consistent and dedicated but its all worth it in the end. I get to say I did this and leave it to grow after I graduate. I can't wait to see what else this organization has in store for me and watch it grow even more for the years to come.

Love,

A very excited EIC of a very small but growing branch.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

16 Secrets Anthropology Majors Never Admit To

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

CSU

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
