A Letter To The Invisible Girl

To the Invisible Girl,

You stay up way too late, absentmindedly peering through various portals of social media; Overthinking absolutely everything and anything about your life, wondering how it could all be better. You know who you are.

The morning always comes too quick. Reluctantly leaving your bed with messy hair and tired eyes. With an average of five to ten minutes to get ready, it becomes leggings and a hat for the third time that week and pray to God no one sees you. Earbuds in and two songs later you're sitting at your undesignated-assigned seat with the same old familiar faces. You want to raise your hand and ask a question, but you don't. You don't want to stand out.

You always see people that you kind-of know in passing, but you're too unsure of yourself to just say hi. You think what if they have no idea who I am? You even find yourself intimidated to reach out to others and make plans, even to try new things.

But you need to realize something.

Having this kind of mindset isn't going to get you anywhere. There's 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year, and ZERO time for not living the life you want. Stop hiding from the world.

Going through the motions of life isn't living, and life's too short to be hiding behind earbuds and a baseball hat.

Stop focusing on everything that's not perfect in your life and start appreciating what you have going for you. Lose the negative mentality and start saying hi to people in passing, because you're not as invisible as you think you are. Learn to embrace the day and all its challenges.

Before you know it, college will have passed you by and you'll kick yourself for not making yourself seen.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
