A Letter To The Indecisive Student

Yes or No are words that sting your ears

It's always been hard for you to make decisions whether it's about to get the burger or the salad, or whether you should go out with friends or stay in. Yes and no answers are your worst nightmare because your opinion is based down the middle. Your political views may also be mixed. Pro-choice or pro-life may not be options to you because one side of you says a woman should choose, but the other says it's wrong to harm an unborn child. Others may find that intriguing about you, possibly in a good way and possibly not. But it's very important to remember that you are young and it's okay to not make fast decisions; it means you think more about your options and you don't want to jump into things and commit without really knowing what you are getting yourself into and gain more information. You obviously say yes and no to some things, but there are definitely times where you may have to sit there and brainstorm which answer is the best.

I have friends who wished they had read more customer reviews on products before buying them or got to know a guy more before jumping into a relationship. Jumping into relationships are the worst things you could do. It becomes awkward and you may barely know your boyfriend or girlfriend. Three or four months may go by and you break up because the honeymoon phase is over and you realize there was absolutely nothing in common between the two of you. That's why dating needs to happen again, go out and learn about each other and if things match up after awhile, get together. Keeping it slow for some things have made it worthwhile. Getting more information about a research paper before writing it may guarantee you a more detailed paper.

You're barely an adult and it's okay to make mistakes or be cautious about making them. Experience gets us places and you may need to think long and hard about how big an impact your next decision may make on your life. Deciding which college to go to is very difficult when you've applied to so many. To make the choice easier always make a pros and cons list of each school and think of which one gives you a better feeling about being there for the next four years or longer, if you choose a certain major. It's okay to not to want to jump into a committed relationship unless you believe the person is 100% worth it all, it's fine to say no and date around to see what you like. The only person stopping you from it is you. So next time a friend gets upset at you for not getting back to you on going to that party, don't feel bad because some indecisive people turn out more successful than others.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
