Dear You,
Not so many people are as fortunate as I am to have a You in their lives. Not so many people are blessed to have someone that actually sees them, and not in the literal sense. You “see” me, you get me and you still like what you see. Not so many people have that. Too many people look for love in all the wrong places. Too many people don’t know what love is. Too many people don’t have a You in their lives, and they are honestly missing out. You see, you are truly something special. You see, you don’t know how wonderful you are. You see, you are a blessing. I think that we would both agree it took us a little while to actually figure each other out, to know which buttons to push and which ones to push repeatedly...Just kidding...but I think we’re really starting to getting the hang of it. I think that it’s not typical to be in a relationship with someone who encourages you to be closer to Jesus, to stick to your morals and who doesn’t pressure you into anything except to do your very best. I don’t think it’s typical be in a relationship with someone who will patiently lift your chin up every time you’re crying, (even when you cry all the time because you breathe out more emotion than you breathe in oxygen). Yet, you never fail to do that for me over, and over, and over again. Your fingers must get a workout from tilting my chin upward so very often. You know that I’m dealing with some tough stuff lately, you comfort me, even when it’s 2:30 in the morning and you saw that I called and needed someone to say, “Hey, it’s gonna be okay, I love you.” Sometimes, a lot of the time, you catch me staring at you when we’re together. Every time, I’m thinking about how blessed I am to have you in my life. Also, you’re attractive so, why would I not look? Anyone who knows you knows that you’re crazy talented. You don’t give yourself enough credit, and I wish you could see you through my eyes. I know that we’re young and have a lot of life ahead of us to live, and I know it won’t always be the easiest, but as I look forward to what is yet to come in our lives, I just want to say I love you and I wouldn’t want it to be anyone else. Thank you for loving me unconditionally, for being my favorite comedian, musician, athlete and best friend. Thank you for apologizing when you mess up, and for forgiving me when I do too. Thank you for listening to all of my never ending words and complying to my never ending requests for hugs. Thank you for seeing me. So here’s to you! You are my sunshine, I am proud to be your girlfriend, and I love you.
