A Letter To The Girl Who Loves Netflix

How much Netflix is too much Netflix?

Netflix, and... more Netflix.

We all know how it goes. You find that one show that you are stuck on, and you binge watch, so you end up finishing 10 seasons of Grey's Anatomy in a month and a half (at least I did). So you move on to another show you found or you watch the show that everyone is talking about. It is just a never-ending cycle.

Well, that never-ending cycle called Netflix was like a black hole for my school work in my freshman year of college.

Netflix is a good way to pass time, but it should not be your whole life. I let Netflix control my life. I never saw my friends unless I had to. I put off my school work so that I could watch more episodes. I didn't study. I stayed up late, and I was exhausted the next day. It was the same situation every day of every week for my entire freshman year.

After my freshman year of college was over, I looked at my grades. I realized that binge watching Netflix is not good when you have homework and tests the next day. So, during my sophomore year, I couldn't mess around like I did my freshman year. It was time to get a little more serious about my future.

I will binge watch a show right now because I'm on summer break so I don't have any homework to do or a test to take. I start my junior year of college in about a week, and that is where I'll have to put my Netflix on hold.

Binge watching your favorite show is not a bad thing. I just know how I got wrapped up in watching Netflix so much that I lost control of my academic life. I just don't want anyone else to go through that hardship that I went through. It's easy to fall into a hole, but it is much harder to dig your way out of it.

I struggled. I had breakdowns and I stressed out. I just don't want you to go though that and maybe you are handling it better than I did. Well, good for you! Keep a balance.

So enjoy watching your Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. I just want you to keep up with your homework, tests and life. You're young. Don't let life pass you by.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
