A Letter To The Friends That Have Drifted Away

Nothing really happened, and I think that was the problem. There was just nothing after a while.

A Letter To The Friends That Have Drifted Away
Haley Bissonnette

I would not trade the times we have had together for the world. They were some of the best moments of my life; listening to music, singing at the top of our lungs, crazy dance moves, cabin sleep overs, making and eating tons of junk food, talking about people at school (boys in particular), shopping sprees, spur of the moment adventures (occasionally unintentional), and the crying vents to each other about whatever may be on your mind. I wanted it to last forever to make memories until the mirror reflects an image of our laugh lines and gray hair. It seemed like we would be there for each other no matter the year, day, time, or distance.

I could confide in you when there was no one else. I hope you felt the same way about me. I will be here still as time goes on no matter the circumstances. I will welcome you arms open with a shoulder to lean on and act as if no time has passed and that yesterday we were singing along to our favorite songs and laughing about all the people who are not worth our time. We did it, we were ourselves despite what anyone else thought. No one else could bring us down, we laughed at the people who judged us because we knew they just did not understand who we were.

It taught me a lot, the time I spent by your side. It taught me to be confident in myself. I learned how to care for another and be there for someone when they need you. How to argue with someone and make up. Being honest without being hurtful. Some boys truly are not worth your time even if you think they are your world. There is always someone there for you when you need them. And most importantly it let me know that there is hope for actually beautifully souled people in the world. Thank you for that.

I hope that in life you make friends whose memories you will never forget, and someone you can always depend on. I hope that you see that there are people in the world who really do care and will always be there. I hope that you realize how truly wonderful you are and that you never accept anyone telling you different, because despite the things you have been through you put a smile on your face and are one of the strongest people I know.

Remember the good times and know that even though we drifted apart we will have left an impact on each others lives. We will always have had the time we did and the way we talked and things we shared will never be changed and will forever be between us.

Thank you for your time dear friend, even if it was not until the end.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
