Dear Abroad Friends,
When I was packing and getting ready to leave home, there were an abundance of things that I had anticipated and prepared for. The foods that I’d eat, my dorm, my classes, the places that I would go visit, however, what I did not prepare for was the amazing friendships that I would make.
It can be a scary thing being 4,000 plus miles away from home, and it gets even rougher when you don’t know anyone. For this reason (one of many) I am beyond thankful to have met friends like you guys. You guys have taken my complaining, goofy ideas, and lame jokes like champs. I love that we became like a little family that can tease one another and bicker with one another, but at the end of the day love each other.
When we have left this city, it will be you guys who will understand what I mean when I say that it feels good to be in a place where it doesn’t always rain and where July weather doesn’t involve wearing a coat. You guys will know what foods I’ll miss, what dance clubs I’ll miss, and what classes I wont miss (looking at you, Accounting). I could try to describe our long running jokes to friends and family at home, but only you guys would truly understand.
Abroad friends, thank you for always being up for spontaneous adventures. Thank you for pushing me to try new things and to step out of my comfort zone. I only had a few weeks to get to know you, but that’s all it took for you to become some of my most cherished friends. Throughout my time here you have given me a unique kind of support, love, and memories, which I will remember forever.
