A Letter To The Very Best Friend I Met in College

The best friend you meet in college is a very special kind of friend. They are the friend you found out of hundreds, possibly thousands, of people at your university.

The person who has been there for you on your worst days and celebrated with you on your best.

The person who makes late-night Target runs feel like spontaneous road trip adventures.

The person that you consult before starting a Netflix series, because you know you'll end up watching it together anyway.

The person that knows how to comfort you (Ben & Jerry's... duh) and when to give you some tough love.

They're the person who simultaneously acts as your therapist, dance partner, wingman, and study buddy.

The person you obsess over Pinterest travel boards with.

The person who makes all-nighters go by in the blink of an eye.

The person whose dorm room is your home away home.

The person who knows all your weird obsessions and accepts you for them.

The person you hug like you haven't seen them in a year, even though it's been three days.

The person you can't ever stay mad at.

They are the person who understands the struggle between wanting to go out and REALLY wanting to stay in.

The person you can have whole conversations with without saying a word.

The person who both encourages you to go to class and skips with you when you don't feel like it.

The person who knows all your quirks and idiosyncrasies and the secrets you haven't told anyone else.

The person who steers you away from the wrong guy.

The person who accepts retail therapy as a legitimate form of treatment.

The person you can be your weirdo-self with.

So, best friend, I just want to thank you for being, well… the best.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
