A Letter To Summertime

Dear Summertime,

Oh how I've missed you. I can't wait to be on the boat, have my feet in the sand, and wear my hair messy every day.

Summertime, I want to thank you. Thank you for the good times that you always seem to bring. The bonfires, the creek floats, and days of just taking it easy. Thank you for not supplying me with an endless amount of homework, and for allowing me to hang out with my family and best friends.

You're just a few long days away, but I know you'll greet me with a pink sunburn, and a cold drink. You'll reward me for my hard semesters with some fish to put in the freezer, and maybe even some cool shells from the beach.

Listening to your concerts and getting to live in a bikini is something that I always look forward to. Dancing on the bow of the boat to music blaring while we are docked out on the island is something I'm dreaming our right now. Four wheeling and getting stuck for hours is you finest offering, and oh how I can't wait to see you.

Summertime, I hope you know how much I appreciate you. Being able to come home and relax never sounded so good.

Counting down the days till I get to see you,

An anxious student

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
