A Letter To Seniors On Graduation
Montgomery Stambaugh

Dear high school seniors,

Today is the day you have been waiting for your whole life. It’s the day that begins the journey to your future. Today will be filled with happiness and sadness from all parties involved. You will be reminiscing about all the good memories you made and saying goodbye to the friends that you have had since kindergarten. Today ends one chapter that you have known for 13 years, but is starting a new one to the rest of your life.

As you wake up today, you come to realize that it is officially the last day of high school and you will have to never go back. One part of you will be happy because it’s over, but another part will feel bitter sweet because you'll miss everyone and everything that you have known for most of your life.

You begin your day earlier than normal. As you look over, your gown will be hanging up, cap on the dresser, and dress clothes laid out. It is such a surreal feeling. You go downstairs and see your mom has tears running down her face because she is wondering how her baby grew up so fast. There giving you that look that they are proud of you but don’t want you to go. Your friends will be texting you with non-stop words of disbelief, wondering where time went. You will wonder how you made it to the day you’ve been counting down to all year.

As the hours pass by, you get ready for the day ahead. It’s filled with looking nice, taking a million pictures, and hearing stories from your parents about when you were a baby. As you finish getting ready, you say bye to your parents and that you will see them there. You get to the school stadium and that’s when all the reminiscing and saying goodbye to every person possible happens. You will thank your teachers. And you will finally look back on the halls of the school and think this is the last time I will be here as a student.

You and your friends will begin remembering your first pep really, and all the football games and student sections that you had fun at. You’ll remember homecomings and proms which was your only chance to dress up in school. You’ll recall all the goofy moments from seeing each other around school. Also remembering the hard times that you have been through, but you knew that you were there for one and other. Your friends are the people that you have been through everything with, the highs and the lows, the ups and the downs. They will always be there and you will love them for that forever.

As you line up in alphabetical order, "Pomp and Circumstance" begins playing, and you make that walk down to the stadium in front of all your family and friends. The ceremony starts, you here all the speeches, and then the names begin being read. You will line and up and the anticipation will set in. This is it, you are about to walk across that stage and get your diploma. This is what 13 years of hard work has been meant for.

After you get your diploma and throw your cap in the air. Its official, you have graduated high school. You will run to your friends and cry and jump up and down and think we did. We finally did. Excitement will overcome everyone and happiness will fill the air. You see your parents and they tell you how proud they are of you. You say the last goodbye’s to your friends. You will leave the school after everything is over.

As you look back, you realize that it is all over and you have graduated. This is when your future begins and the path to where you will go will start. You have the ability to do anything, so look back at your time in school as a blessing because now is when the rest of our life starts. You will never be the same person you were today.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
