Dear normal and taken for granted bagels and pizza,
Bagels and pizza are just your average foods. You can eat a bagel for breakfast or lunch. Pizza is usually a lunch or dinner type of food. Sometimes you even eat pizza for breakfast because, well, life is short, dude. However, not until recently did I realize how different bagels and pizza are in different states. You would think that a bagel or slice of pizza would be very hard to mess up. Well, that makes two of us and we are both very very wrong.
I have never actually experienced such sadness until I bit into my first Rhode Island bagel (much love for RI just not much love for the bagels). I honestly was not sure what I was even eating at first. As a current 18-year-old girl from New Jersey, I have only experienced the best of the best bagels around. Of course, I have also had bagels in New York and they are also just as amazing. Going out of the NJ/NY region is a whole new world of bagels that I really just don't want to be a part of.
This really should not be something I should be complaining about. I mean, at least I have food to eat—but c'mon. What is so hard about finding a good bagel? The pizza is a whole different situation. It is super thick. As Fetty Wap once said, "Slim thick with yo cute ass"- this one-eyed NJ born and raised man was actually referring to pizza. The amount of pizzerias in my hometown alone was crazy. Sometimes I even questioned if it was really necessary. Clearly, it was to make up for every other state out there that is ruining the reputation of a solid piece of pizza.
If this offends anyone, I really am sorry I just am a hangry college student who needs a decent fluffy bagel and some thin crust pizza. To those of you who have never been to NJ/NY- please go and just experience the difference between your bagels/pizza and theirs. It is a life changing experience.
Sincerely,
someone in need of good food
