An Open Letter To My Younger Siblings

All The Things I Never Said

An Open Letter To My Younger Siblings

To my younger siblings:

As I tackle life away from home, there are so many things that I have always wanted to say to you, but could never find the time or the words to properly express exactly what I want to say.

I know I am not much older than you guys, but the few years that I have experienced ahead of you are enough to make a difference. It is heartbreaking to watch you guys grow up so quickly but heartwarming it is to be able to be a part of it all. I want you guys to know that I am unbelievably proud of you. Looking at all that you guys have accomplished in the little time you have been here, is absolutely amazing. You guys have found something you care about and are undyingly passionate about and found it so early on. Take your passion and run with it. Never lose sight of what you care about and are passionate about. That will serve as a scapegoat from all the curve balls will occasionally throw at you.

I enjoy more than anything being apart of your guys' lives. You have taught me and continue to teach me lessons that I could never learn in school or anywhere else. Sharing a room with both of you at one point or another in life, I learned more about you guys than either of us would like to openly admit. You guys taught me what it is like to love another person more than myself. I found out early on, that there is nothing more beautiful than to see you smile from ear to ear. I would break my back to be there for you guys and I would run to the ends of the Earth if it means you guys are genuinely happy and I could see you smile. I might be miles from home at the moment, but I am and will always be a phone call or a text away; I will always answer.

As you guys continue to grow and move your way through school, just know that kids ARE mean. Don't let their silly judgements of you, affect who you are. I want you to remain the same beautiful person you have always been.

Don't forget to smile and laugh until your stomach hurts.

Don't be afraid to let your weird quirks shine through.

Don't hold back your opinions because they differ from the ones around you.

Don't back down from what you believe in.

Don't lose sight of your dreams.

Don't forget to tell the ones you love that you them before it is too late.

The world can be a scary and frustrating place at times, but the only thing that will make this place more beautiful is staying true to who you are, tackling everyday with a smile, and ALWAYS putting family first. Never forget the person you are and who you want to be and the world will always remain a beautiful place.

I love you guys to the moon,

Your Older Sister

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
