A Letter To My "Baby" Brothers

Because I know I don't tell you this enough.

A Letter To My "Baby" Brothers

To My Little Brothers,

Let me start by saying I'm so proud of the young men you're both becoming. You're both growing up so fast and every time you guys call me and tell me what you're doing in school I can't help but think that you're both getting so big and smart. I wish I would've been half as amazing as you guys are when I was your age.

I want to thank both of you for being my best friends. We argue and disagree about some things, but at the end of the day I know that I can trust you both with my life and that means more to me than any argument. Siblings fight and argue, but I don't personally know too many that can forgive and forget as quick as we do.

I want to thank you for all the memories you've given me. From frosting cookies at Christmas time to going to the lake and swimming for hours every summer, I want you to know that I remember all of our times together. I remember bringing my girlfriend home for the first time and you guys gushing over her and making sure you guys knew she was right for me.

I want to also thank you for being there for me when grandma died. I came to see you guys after it happened and you both hugged me and we cried together. We lost a big part of our lives that day and I wasn't expecting to break down as much as I did, but you boys held me together like glue and made sure I knew that I was going to be okay even if I didn't feel like it at the time.

Speaking of grandma, thank you both for keeping her spirit alive and talking to me about her every time I see you. Thank you for telling me stories and memories you have with her. It makes me feel better to know that I'm not the only one that still misses her like crazy.

Thank you for always making me laugh. You know how to make me double over and laugh so hard that it feels like I just did a bunch of ab workouts. Between our inside jokes and just random stuff we do, you always know how to make me laugh so hard that I cry.

Now I want to say that I'm sorry. I'm sorry I don't see you both as often as I used to, but I promise once I graduate school I'll come visit more often. I love the weekends that you guys come up and stay the night with me. We always have so much fun playing games, going to the park, and watching movies. I think we could lay on the floor and just stare at the ceiling and have a good time. Thank you for all the good times.

Thank you for all the support you've given me over the years. Whenever I tell you both I want to do something, you constantly push me to achieve my goals. You may not realize it, but you boys inspire me to keep going and pushing to be the woman I want to be. I know that you look up to me and I want to be the best big sister that I can possibly be.

Lastly, I want to say that I love you. I love every little thing about you. Every flaw, every day, no matter what I love you. I love you both more than you could ever imagine. Thank you for everything, boys.

Love, Your Big Sister

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
