Life has a funny way of bringing people into our lives just when we need them. When you walked into my life three years ago (woah, that long ago?!), God knew I needed you and my life hasn't been the same since. You have taught me so many things in the three years that I have known you and you quickly became my unexpected hero. I never expected our friendship to flourish like it has, but I am so glad it did!

You have taught me so much about life. Whenever I need advice or have a problem, I call you. I know that you will always lend your ear to listen or your shoulder for me to cry on. You shoot it to me straight and don't tiptoe around anything because you love me that much and want the absolute best for me. Even though I am often times stubborn and don't listen, I appreciate every bit of advice you give me and take it with me always.

Some of my best memories with you are the ones which included us riding in your car from job site to job site. From our car conversations which started off small, but then progressed to both of us talking a mile a minute to eating Chick-Fil-A on the go, many of my best summer memories are with you.

You have welcomed me with open arms into your family and I feel so blessed to not only know you, but to know them as well. I look up to you and admire you so much. You have shown me what true strength and determination looks like and you have shown me that you really can do whatever you set your mind to.

Thank you for always being so supportive of me and my accomplishments and always having my back. Thank you for always encouraging me to follow my dreams and never settle for less than what I deserve. Thank you for being one of the rocks that has kept me grounded for the past three years and always being there for me.

You are such a light in my life and that light shines brightly to whoever you come in contact with. You have one of the most genuine, kind, and selfless souls of anyone I have ever met and I am blessed beyond measure to call you my dear friend. I love you and am thankful every day for you!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
