Dear Father God,

Thank you for all that you have done for me. I am who I am today because of you. Whenever life threw me a curveball, you were always there to get me through it. God, you have truly blessed my life in many ways. You brought me a family, with that family came the best parts of my life. The family you gave me was an answered prayer. and I cannot thank you enough for sending them to me when I needed them the most. You sent me all the people that have walked in and out of my life. All the people that have come into my life have impacted me, big and small.

This is going to sound odd, but I really want to thank you for the hardships I've faced in life too. Not many people will thank someone for the parts in their life that really brought them down. I feel that the moments I truly struggled with were the moments that meant the most. They taught me the most and made me a stronger, smarter, and better person.

As said in Psalm 139:13-14, "For you have created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." You made me who I am and I couldn't be more thankful for that.

I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry for the moments in life that I lost my faith. I know I blamed you for a lot of the bad things that happened to me, and I am so sorry for that too. I know we all make mistakes and we live and we learn. I never should've blamed you, because everything happens for a reason. In the moments I felt the weakest, I lost faith and blamed you. I prayed to you for several months. Praying for you to get me out of that home, hoping that you would find me a better place or to just to end my life where I was. I prayed for the pain to stop, not just for me but for my whole family.

I blamed you for the beatings. I thought you had forgotten about me or that I just wasn't important enough to pay attention to. I apologize for ever blaming you. I apologize for losing all hope in you in my weakest moments. You brought me into this world and you could take me out anytime you wanted to, I need to remember that. Without you, I wouldn't be here, nobody would be. I am sorry for the moments I looked away from you. I am sorry I didn't always trust in you. I am still working on my faith and figuring it all out, with you always by my side I won't ever have to figure it out alone. Through my life I have found that "The Lord will fight for you, you only need to be still" (Exodus 14:14).

I know I am not always going to be perfect. I know that I am going to mess up from time to time. The only thing that gets me through every day is you. I know that no matter where I go in life, you will always have my back. The verse in the Bible that always gets me through my rough parts in life is, "be strong, banish fear and doubt; remember the Lord is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). Lord, thank for allowing me to be your daughter. Thank you for making me in the image of you. Thank you for giving me the talents I have and thank you for making me very uncoordinated. No matter where I go in life, I will always need you.

Love Always,

Your Daughter

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
