An Open Letter to My Team

If I haven't thanked you before, I am now.

An Open Letter to My Team

Thank you for teaching me so many things.

Every single one of you have helped me to learn so much that I will never forget. Whether it be on or off the field, everything I've been taught has stuck with me. Little things like where to get the best milkshakes, to big things like how to play the game. I would not know half of what I know without you.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and support.

I know I can be a handful sometimes, but you never give up on me. When I get down on myself you never push me down farther. You understand how I'm feeling and motivate me to get back on my feet at my own pace. It's never easy to get knocked down... especially when it's by one of you on the field. But I know your hands are always the first to reach out and help me back up.

Thank you for being my motivation.

When the game is almost over or the day is almost done, a few more yards on the field or a few more minutes in practice is not always easy. There are always those days where my hands would rather be holding a cupcake than a ball. On those days I hear each of your voices in my head, and I go those extra yards and sweat those few more minutes. And school? Work? Well that just sucks for all of us, but without you all it would probably suck a little more.

Thank you for being my best friends.

A good chunk of you have seen me at what we will refer to as, 'not my best'. It doesn't matter if I'm crying downtown at 1 am or crying in the library at 1 am, you never ask questions and always calm me down. Whether it's a smack to the face or a snack to the face, you know exactly how to end my over dramatic scene. You're always just a phone call away when I'm bored and need someone to do something stupid with. You all have such different personalities that whether I want to TP a house or watch some Netflix, all I have to do is message the group chat and one of you weirdos will be down. Sometimes even the group chat is entertainment enough.

Just... Thank you.

I never dreamed that by joining a team I would become friends some of the most incredible people I've ever met. In all of you I have found a family. Though we all leave the team eventually due to graduation or for bigger and better things, we never truly leave. Once a teammate always a teammate. In a short time you have transformed me into the person I want to be. I am becoming stronger, smarter, and happier. All with you by my side. Thank you for doing that for me. Thank you for being my team.

Love Always,

Your Teammate

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
