A Letter to My People

So even if you have not seen Grey’s Anatomy, most have heard of the phrase “you are my person.” Or even the phrases “You’re the Yang to my Grey” or “You’re the Grey to my Yang.” What if you can’t choose just one person to be your person? What if you have multiple “persons?”

So instead, this is a letter to my people. You know who you are. Thank you for pushing me to heights I never knew I could reach and being there for me through my hardships. Without you guys I would not be who I am today.

If you happen to be reading this right now, just know that you are appreciated and
I value our friendship like no other. Whether you are in California, South Carolina, Arizona, North Carolina or another country, I know that you will always have my back no matter what! You have proved time and time again that you truly are family to me. I love you and will forever. Honestly, I thank God that each one of you has come into my life because I couldn’t walk this crazy path called life alone.

While I sit here and reminisce about the crazy, sad and exciting moments we have endured together, I can’t help but smile. Thank you for making my life brighter and crazier. And yes I definitely am emphasizing the crazier part!! I look forward to the many new things that we get to experience together and make some amazing memories out of them.

Love you always and forever.

But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
