Dear Sister,
I remember the day you were born, and I remember when mom and dad told me I got a little sister. I was so excited to meet you. I watched you grow up and become someone that inspires me every day.
Now, you're 15...
So many things are happening in your life: school, track, student council, and more. You're growing up, and that's a scary thought. You're a young woman and I wanted to give you a few small "words of wisdom."
First, happiness can only be achieved by you. Not by friends, not by relationships, but by you, and you only. Treat yourself as you would treat others, because you'd never tell your best friends that they're "ugly," right? I don't think you would. So stop telling yourself that. Another way to do this is to stop comparing yourself to others, and stop telling yourself that you have to be some crazy definition of "perfect." You'll never be that kind of perfect because that perfect doesn't exist.
Failure is ok, but only if you tried your best, and learn from that failure. So you got a C in Spanish? Who cares? Did you try your best? It's one grade, not make or break. That's not to say that I agree with slacking off and then complaining when you get a bad grade. Work as hard as you can, and you will be successful. As long as you tried your best, you're fine.
I heard someone say once that "you should find three hobbies in your life: one that makes you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative," and it was some of the best advice I've ever heard. So, I'm passing it on to you. I really wish I had found these habits when I was younger, because it's really hard to get into them now. I think you should find these types of habits early because then you get more time to do what you love.
Keep a light heart, and keep in mind that there should always be a part of you that always stays young. I think that's the best part of myself, the part full of adventure and the will to try new things.
Don't let anyone dull the fire inside you. I can see it whenever you talk about something you love, and that's amazing. Let that fire move you, let it drive every decision you make, because that's what's going to help you achieve your dreams. You're one of the most driven and motivated people I know, and you cannot let anyone take that away from you, no matter what.
My dear sister, I'm so proud of the young woman you've become. You're an inspiration to me, our brother and the rest of our family. Your strength, hope, and laughter has brought me so much joy. I can't wait to see what you do because I know that no matter what, you're going to do incredible things with your life.
I love you, darling, and I'm so proud of you.
