We may not come from the same background or the same parents, but you are like a sister to me.

A Letter to My Sister From Another Mister

Dear Sister-From-Another-Mister,

You may not have been born into my family. We might not have the same blood or the same parents. Heck, we may not look alike or even be the same color. But know that I love you. You are dear to my heart. You are sincerely like family to me. When I say sister, I mean it.

My dear sister-friend, there are a few things I want you to know.

I hold the same hopes and wishes for you as I do for my biological sister.

I wish you all the happiness in the world. I hope that you follow your dreams and find all the help you need along the way.

I hope that you always feel loved. Know that when you have a falling out with your family, or even just need a time out from them, I am here with unconditional love.

I pray for you.

I pray for your happiness, your success, your future.

I pray for the small things and the big things.

I pray that you are satisfied with your work. I pray that you have the confidence to pass your tests. I pray that you find a good man that loves you.

I pray for your relationship with God - that you feel surrounded by his presence and that he moves in your life. I pray that I can be a hand of God’s love and light in your life. I pray that God gives you strength in all the hardships you might face.

I am here for you.

I may not agree with every decision you make but, as a sister, I will support you. I may not understand everything you are going through but I will always lend an open ear.

Whenever you need a shoulder, my arms are wide open. I will wipe away your tears and cry with you. I will comfort you and reassure you.

I will celebrate all of your successes. I will dance like a goof with you. I will listen to you gush about your crushes.

I am thankful for you.

Thank you for being my friend - for being more than a friend.

Thank you for loving me, even on my worst days.

Thank you for supporting me in my endeavors no matter how out of this world they are.

Thank you for celebrating with me - sometimes when I don’t even feel like being celebrated.

Thank you for listening to me complain about school and boys in one breath and gush about the same things in the next.

Thank you for bringing joy and extra love into my life. And more nieces and nephews!

I truly appreciate your presence in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Forever I will stand by you, I will walk with you, I will guide you, and I will love you.

Love Always,

Your Sister from another Mister

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
