Dear Nurses,
Thank you for being by my side every single day while I was in the hospital. I never appreciated the work that you did until I was a patient. As nurses, you were there whenever I needed you. With just a click of a button, you'd come in my room almost instantly and ask what I needed. You helped me get up when I did not have the strength to do so and you made me laugh so much that I often times did not think about the fact that I felt so weak.
Thank you for all the gross things you did for me, like wash the blood out of my hair or take out my stitches. I'm not sure that I would have been able to do something like that, I hate the sight of blood. Thank you for keeping my family and friends sane. They were pretty worried about me for a while but you were always by their side making sure they were alright.
Thank you for treating me like a friend, not just a patient. Not only did you care about my physical health but my emotional health as well. Sometimes you knew something was wrong without me saying a word, and you would always offer to lend a listening ear. Thank you for always stopping by before the end of your shift to say goodnight, or good morning, before heading home from the 12 hour work day you had just completed. Thank you for making the toughest two weeks of my life into something so full of smiles and love rather than just pain.
Nurses. You are loved and appreciated.
Saying "thank you" is painfully inadequate for the gratitude I carry with me everyday.
Love,
Your Former Patient
