Dear Dad,
Here's to another Father's Day to celebrate the remarkable man you are. I don't tell you nearly enough how much I appreciate you.
Everyone says that their dad is the best, but I'm pretty sure you're the greatest. You're always providing us with dad jokes (sometimes funny...) and are never complaining when you have to listen to Taylor Swift music 24/7 in the car for hours.
Living in a house filled with women can be difficult at times, but you embrace it like a champ. You're always putting your ladies first, even when we criticize you a lot. We tease you far too often and you always have the best comebacks that have us rolling on the floor laughing. You have spoiled us for years with very little thank yous. We are brats, but you love us anyways. Thank you for being a great example of the man I should marry one day.
You never take life too seriously, which is something I always forget to do. You live with some of the biggest stress queens and you're always reminding us all to stop stressing over the little things. You've reached your 60's, but you still act like a 12-year-old boy most of the time, which keeps you young. Farting is still the funniest thing to you and I don't think that will ever change. You love to embarrass us because that is a dad's job in life.
You've always been my biggest supporter. You have been in attendance for every single soccer and lacrosse game since the age of 5. Often, you coached my teams as well. We've spent hours in the car together on the way to travel tournaments. As much as you liked to refer to the sport as "communist football" and tried to act like you didn't enjoy it, you know you actually love it. I think I have successfully turned you into a soccer fanatic.
In one of the hardest times of my life when my dream of playing soccer in college was no longer a reality, you were there for me. As I made my transition to playing college lacrosse, you've been to almost every single game. It didn't matter how far you had to drive to be there, you were always up for the ride.
Speaking of sports, your passion for collecting sports memorabilia is one of a kind. We make fun of you a lot for being a "hoarder" because the basement is filled with collectibles, but in reality, it's pretty awesome to know that you have a Kevin Durant signed basketball among other legendary items. I also have to admit that I almost peed my pants when you told me that you met David Beckham and had him sign a business card for me! You take me to baseball games all the time and we always have a blast even though we attract the most annoying fans in the park. There's never a dull moment.
In a world filled with parents who don't always put their kids first, you represent the dream dad. You never for one second have been selfish and are always showing your love for us. Ego has and never will be a thing for you. A selfless father is hard to find, but I have been lucky enough to know one for 21 years now. Here's to many more years of laughs, love, and "people watching"!
Love,
Annie
