Mom,

In the dictionary, the term "Mom" is defined as "The woman who loves you unconditionally from birth, the one who puts her kids before herself and the one who you can always count on above everyone else." The accuracy of this definition is crazy!

The one thing I probably will never forget is how much you sacrificed to give me the best life possible. You never failed to get me the supplies for my next two week obsession, which by the way was a waste of time. Just saying mom. Although, you never saw it that way. You helped me figure myself out with the means of trying everything out.

For that, I thank you. I am now a young (almost) adult figuring things out from a distance. Everything you worked so hard to give me has paid off. I'm now a college student hoping that one day in the future, I'll change the world. I honestly would not be here if it wasn't for you.

As we both know, at times I often get lost along this path. I get lost enough that I just want to give up, but I don't. The reason for that is because you have always been there. I know you're probably wishing and hoping that one day, meaning soon, I'll have my life together. Sorry to say, but that will not be soon.

For now, I'm here to reassure you that your sacrifices have not been in vain. I'm here because of you, and I'll make sure to be the best person I can be. I was taught from the best, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

When my career is all set in stone I'll make sure to repay you for your sacrifices. They mean the world to me, so it's only right if you see a piece of the end result. I promise you that I'll take you on the family vacation I have always talked about, and I also promise you to get you the home you deserve. A home that will truly belong to you. I promise you that once I get to where I belong, you'll never have to stress another day in your life because you don't know if you'll have enough money until your next paycheck. I promise you that.

As for now, I really hope you're proud of me. I truly do miss home, but I believe that I was meant to be in this place. I feel like this is where it will all begin. I can only ask that you don't give up on me.

If I didn't have you by my side, I don't know where I would be now. I am honestly extremely lucky to have you as my mom.

I love you, mom.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
