A Letter To My Mentees
me

This semester I have had the honor of mentoring some amazing first year college students for the Setters Leadership Program, a program at Pace University which follows the Social Change Model. They recently have moved to the second level to this program and I am extremely proud of them. So this is for them, and for anyone else who may be trying to express there thankfulness to there mentees.

Hey Guys,

When I signed up to be a Mentor, I thought we would meet once in a while but other than that, you guys wouldn't want to build that much of a connection. Boy was I wrong. I am so happy I was. Instead, we have gotten close, you all seem to trust me and I trust y'all as well. I am so glad I have watched you all grow so much this semester. You have blossomed into leaders who can do anything they put their minds to. You have even helped me be a better leader and a better person. I can't imagine this semester without you guys in it.

Each of you are strong in your own ways. You all have a passion and work so hard. I am so glad you guys were assigned to me and fate brought us together (as corny as that sounds). I am so happy I have so many memories with each one of you (and one picture in which I look HORRIBLE IN, we need to take a new one soon). I am so happy y'al let me send you pictures of dogs everyday and don't get annoyed. I love the times when we sit in my living room talking about leadership theories for an hour, and then end up just talking about life for hours. I am thankful for the crazy things you guys say sometimes and just always being there to make me smile.

Words will never be able to express how proud I am of each one of you. Transitioning into College is never easy, but y'all didn't jumped in with two feet, you dove head first and it has paid off. You guys helped me find a new passion and a new mission. So thank you.

I want to share something I sent to the person who runs the leadership program at Pace, "To summarize all of them (again), they have all worked so hard and always tried there best. They are caring and really understand all the information given to them this year. Each one of them has jumped into the Pace community and have tried to be a leader in every way possible. They all want to apply to be RA's, OL's, be on Eboard, and try their best to get there. They have been a pleasure to work with and helpful in my own leadership journey. I have developed a true friendship with these people and I am so glad I have been able to experience this and work with them this semester. "

Thank you for accepting being stuck with me, helping me grow as a person, and letting me be your mentor. I am so proud of you. I can't wait to see what you guys do next.

Love,

Your Mentor

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

16 Secrets Anthropology Majors Never Admit To

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
