Dear Bro,

Yup, you're old. I've decided that I will have to get over that fact now, rather than later down the line. Soon enough we will be moving you into college, and you'll be off on your own. S-C-A-R-Y. It is crazy how fast time goes by. I remember your first day of high school, and how I couldn't believe you were going to be a freshman wondering the halls. Well, here I go again, still not believing you are going to be a freshman, but this time, a freshman in college.

Although we may not be many years apart, you will forever be my younger brother. It doesn't matter how many inches taller than me you are, or how much stronger you are than me, regardless of these factors, you're still my little bro. So little bro, I have got some things to remind of you as you go off to college.

You won't feel like a freshman forever.

The first few days, maybe even weeks, of college will not necessarily be the easiest. You will likely feel like a lost puppy on campus trying to get from class to class without being late, and that's okay. Like anything else, college takes some time to get used too. Knowing you, you'll get the hang of it rather quickly, and will forget that it's your first year on campus.

Remember who you are.

It is so important to stay true to yourself. It is so easy to get "caught up in college," and forget about the incredible person that you are. Here is your reminder to be true to yourself. Before you do anything, take that split second to think. Think if it's something you would do while you were living at home, and most importantly, think if what you're doing would disappoint mom and dad.

Go to class.

It is so so so easy to stay in your bed all day and just watch Netflix. Your mind and body tell you that, if I miss this one class I won't fail. Don't think like that. Go to class. You never know what you will miss that day, and your GPA will definitely thank you for going.

Learn to manage your time.

Sure, I just told you to go to class and get a good GPA, but make sure you have a social life too. Time management is crucial in college. In my opinion, it is one of the most important skills to have in order to succeed. Go to class, do your homework, but still go out and have a good time with your friends. Balance is key.

Call mom and dad.

If not a call, at least a text (heck, I wouldn't mind one every once in a while either). Sure, in college you're on your own, and free, but mom and dad are still there for you, no matter what. So don't forget to call them when you ace your first test, when you need help with your laundry, or even just to chat.

Live a little, and have fun.

A college experience is one like no other. It can be as unique as you choose to make it. So here I am, telling you, to make it unique. Make it the best possible. Don't stress out over all the little things, but rather, breathe and remain mentally healthy.

I am so incredibly proud of everything you have accomplished, thus far, in your life. I am excited to watch your journey through the college world, and cannot wait to hear all your stories (mostly about you doing your own laundry, jk). In all reality, college is what you make of it, so make it great.

I love you bro.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
