Big and Little, we'll always be

A Letter To My Future Little

Dear Little One,

Today you are entering a sisterhood where you will spend, not only the next four years, but the rest of your life. The letters you will wear proudly, and the traditions will hold a dear place in your heart. In the weeks to come, you will also become a “little,” sister. You will have a mentor and “big,” sister who will help guide you through your next four years, and be a special sister in your life.

As your soon-to-be “Big,” I wanted to let you know a few things.

First, I am here for you. Through the good, the bad, and the ugly, I will always be available to talk. Whether it’s when you need to talk to about classes, changing your major, or just for fun, I will be your supporter and “biggest” fan. I know how much it has meant that my Big has been there for me, so I promise to do the same. I'll be there for you.

Second, I will encourage you to be a supportive and lovable sister. I know you will probably be nervous about joining a sorority, but it’s okay. We have all been in your footsteps before. The one thing I would love to see you do is represent us in a supportive and lovable way. I remember when I joined, my new sisters were always welcoming and supportive of me through the whole process. I will continue to encourage you to be the same way. Right now you are a “little,” but one day you will become a “big,” and you will be a mentor and role model.

Last, I cannot wait to see how you will grow and flourish in our sisterhood. I believe you are an intelligent woman with a bright future. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you, and how you will be able to be a mentor to a sister like I am a mentor to you.

I cannot wait to meet you and to call you my “little one.”

Love,

Your Future Big

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
