A Letter To My Future Kiddo
Julianne Wood

Dear My Sweet Child,

For many years I have dreamt of the day you enlighten the world with your presence. The day my life will truly be blessed. I've gone over our lives in my head many, many times. In the summer when we're outside gardening all day because there is nothing better than the warmth of the sun and planting flowers. The nights we'll go out and chase fireflies and admire the stars because I want you to appreciate how beautiful the darkness can be. I've imagined the rest of my life now that it includes you.

Expressing my desire for you at a young age always led to disapproving looks from my mother, with good reason. Not that I would have you at a such a young age, you're just something I've always looked forward to. But at this age, I've still got so much traveling to do and experience before I even think about bringing you onboard my journey. You deserve the very best, and I won't settle for giving you anything less than that. Bringing you into a positive, stable environment home with positive, loving parents is my number one priority for you.

Growing up I was surrounded by a lot of negativity and struggle. Granted this helped build the beautiful person I am today, (someone I hope you're extremely proud of), I do not want this for you. I realize life happens and I cannot stop every negative thing from happening but I want to promise you that I will protect from whatever I can. Although there are some exceptions to this promise, I will not keep you from lessons you need to learn and mistakes you need to make to grow as an individual.

That being said, I truly hope you understand the importance of growth and how much of it you do each and every day. Forgive yourself for the mistakes you've made, because you learn and grow from each of them. Don't be shy when you're interacting with others, whoever it may be, everyone has something to teach you if you have the courage to listen. Never lose hope, in others, in yourself, in the world. Things take time. Most importantly, always remember positivity and hard work will take you far in life.

As for your "pre-adult" years, I will not hold you back from anything. I want you to go out and do wild things. I want you to go to concerts of bands you don't know, hang out with friends when you need to, go on random road trips and explore the world, whatever it may be just do what makes you happy. I will be there to help you up from any falls, help guide you through the storm,

To bring this letter to an end, I just want you to know that I will always, always be happy you are apart of my life. I will always love you, regardless of anything that we put each other through. Just remember I am always here to talk to about anything, I will never judge you, I will always support you, and I will always have your back. I look forward to watching you grow and become a unique, strong individual who will do so much for the world, most importantly - for me.

With all of my heart,

Your Momma

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
