Came in as strangers, will leave as family.

To the girls on the third floor of WomCom, (including you Yadkin girls).

I want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you to each and every one of you. Thank you for loving me, and supporting me, for crying with me, and laughing with me. Thank you for the random dance parties, and late night conversations. Thank you for being yourselves.

I will never understand why hall living is considered to be such a dread, because it is honestly such a blessing. I will never forget move in day, moving in with a bunch of strangers, and leaving as so much more than just hall mates, but really y’all became family. There were many times during the school year where I just couldn't help but thank the Lord for putting each of you in my life.

All of our unique strengths and personalities shined in the friendships we formed. I cannot help but smile at the random hall homework parties, and the random acts of love we have shown each other throughout the year. I do not feel anything but an overwhelming amount of support and love for my hall galpals. I do not think I could have asked for a better group of girls to have lived with this year at High Point University. We accepted each other, we loved each other, we had a blast with each other and now we will miss each other.

And as we branch off into our separate ways I just want to say two things:

To our amazing, and kind RA-- thank you. Thank you for taking on such a crazy group. Thank you for loving us, thank you for supporting us, and thank you for pushing us to reach our goals. I know it isn't always easy, especially when you have a group like us, but we are really thankful to have you in our lives, and wouldn't want it any other way. We love you, and thank you for loving us.

To my North third floor girls (and Yadkin), next year it will be so different not being able to knock on everyone’s door to celebrate the victories or cry about the not so great parts of college, but that doesn't mean I won’t be continuing to support you guys. I will be cheering for each and every one of you. Whether that means being 500 miles away, or right down the street. I hope you guys play to your strengths. I know each of you bring such unique qualities into this world, and I cannot wait and see how each of you are going to shine. I love you all, and the memories we have shared will forever hold a place in my heart.

So, cheers to my North third floor GalPals (and Yadkin). Thank you for being a crazy fun bunch. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for making my first year living on campus so memorable. I love you all!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
