Dear My First Roomie,
First of all, I want to start this letter by saying that I am incredibly grateful that I met you. You've taught me so much in one semester and, even though nothing really ever went as planned, I think every experience we had together was meaningful. There's no way to put everything we've gone through together into words but I'm going to make an attempt.
Thank you for everything--from listening to my rants to going on midnight snack runs to embracing my sense of humor; we know firsthand that not everyone can handle it.
Your freshmen year didn't turn out the way you expected and I know you are unhappy because of that. All I can say is really try and make the best of a less-than-ideal situation. You know what I always say: everything happens for a reason. I hope you know it will get better--focus on your grades so you can come back and our dynamic duo can be reunited.
That being said, I want you to know that you can do ANYTHING you want to do; please don't let people or circumstance hold you back. You are capable of so much more than you think. Go chase your dreams, no matter how big or small.
Also, I wanted to thank you for being by my side throughout our many "firsts" and for being a constant during my first semester. We both went through a lot but always were able to talk to each other about anything and everything. I think some of our most insightful conversations were the ones in the middle of the night where everything and nothing made sense at the same time. I also hope I was able to offer you some valuable input and advice just like you were able to do that for me.
Now, you know that I am not an emotional person and sometimes I come off too harsh or blunt but you learned that about me very quickly. But, I hope we will have more opportunities to make memories together in the years to come. I also know we don't talk as much anymore but I want you to know that you are always on my mind. I am still always here for you.
Love,
Your Long Distance Roomie
