Dear Best Friend,

I know we haven’t really seen each other very much since I have been off at college. To be honest though, you have had a lot going on yourself. Don’t think I don’t care about you just because we aren’t talking as much as we used to. I still love you dearly and I think about you all the time. I know we don’t even text that much either but really, I don’t text that much anyways.

Classes are hectic and when I’m not gaining knowledge or eating, I’m asleep. I know you miss me and I miss you too. So, when you get to missing me, just think about what we have been through together and know that I’m just trying to figure out where I fit in at school and in the world. I am overjoyed when I see your posts about your day or when I see your weird snapchats. I am also glad that you are finding your niche at your university and you are making new friends that aren’t fake.

However, we have been there for each other for the past seven years, in the good and the bad. For the good, I like to think of our inside jokes. You losing your eyepatch was quite hilarious! Also, I like to look back on the times we have spent together where we just do dumb things. We could honestly just sit together for hours and talk about nothing in particular. The bad however wasn’t exactly fun. You were there when I needed a shoulder to cry on and you were there through all of my crushes. I was there when you needed someone to cry into and when you had your breakups. Even though I can be a bit violent and protective, you stayed with me. We were there for each other when we were needed the most and even when we weren’t really needed but just wanted to just be in each other’s presence. What I love the most about our friendship is that we can be away from each other for months at a time and when we get together again much later, it’s as if we were never parted. We pick up right where we left off and we are right back in the other’s life.

The last thing that I want to tell you is that I love you and that I don’t want to ever lose you. Stay strong and remember to live your life even if I can’t be there all of the time. I love you!

Your Bestfriend

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
