Thank You and I Love You.

A Letter To My Family
Madeline Martinson

Dear Family,

I love you so much. Even when it seems like I don’t because I am annoyed or upset with something that happened between us, I love you and I know that you love me and will always be there for me. Not everyone is that lucky.

Some people are blessed with amazing siblings or parents, a guardians or an grandparent. I am blessed to have amazing siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all the family that isn’t by blood.

Family is incredibly important to me and my family. The way it works for us is that whether by blood or water family is number one and you do anything for them.

I take for granted sometimes that not everyone shares this view of family, so I am writing this to tell you how much I appreciate everything you do for me.

Thank you for supporting me.

Thank you for showing me your love.

Thank you for caring.

Thank you for making me who I am.

I wouldn’t be the same without you, and I love that I can always count on you.

You pick me up when I am down.

You are proud of me.

You tell me when I am upsetting you.

You have high expectations for me.

You tell me things I don’t what to hear but need to know.

And most of all you let me know how much you love me.

Others may not understand our relationship or how we do family, but they don’t understand how we work.

That when we raise our voices or use sarcasm that we are just making sure we are heard.

That when we speak our mind and hold our ground it is not because we are stubborn or close minded but it is because we believe so strongly that it takes a lot of convincing for us to sway our beliefs.

That when you tell me you are disappointed or upset it is not to make me feel bad about myself but to make me strive for better, because you know great I can be.

You as my family have made me strong, independent, bold and you have helped me love with every fiber of my being. You have taught me to be the best I can be and that I can always lean on you when I need it.

I love our name because we share it and it means something to us. I bonds us and tells me that you love and support me.

Life is hard and it can feel like it’s trying to take you down. But for me, I never have to worry about my family. I rely on your love and support coming my way.

I know that we wont always agree; we will fight and argue and roll our eyes at the decisions we don’t agree with and I expect it to challenge me and make me into the person I am supposed to be. But at the end of the day I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you will fight fire to defend me and I would do the same for you. That is something no one can change not even us. So thank you for being you, and letting me be me.

I would never change my family because no matter how much we but heads or disagree, we are bonded by the larger more important stuff in life, and our love for each other will hold strong.

Family, It can be hard to express how much you mean to me in actions and in words, but I am going to try and tell you each and every day how much you mean to me, because without you I don’t know where I would be. Thank you for all the yesterdays, the todays and the tomorrows that we will spend intertwined in each others lives.

XOXO

Love You

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
