A Letter To My Crappy Student Housing Complex

You guys suck! One of the only reasons I am excited to graduate in May is to get out of dodge because this last year has been stressful. I never hear horror stories from my friends about where they are living. I never hear stories about fans falling from the ceilings nearly killing them. And I for sure never hear about getting charged for rent late, not once but twice followed by being charged double the next month. Then when confronted, of course it is my, the resident’s, fault. I’m sorry, but last time I checked I was not working to the apartment complex and in control over my balance. But hey I will pay, no worries. I can’t even get a discount for my inconvenience.

It’s one disaster after another. My roommate met a guy a few days ago that said that he is being charged for living here and he doesn’t even have a key to an apartment. It sounds familiar because you guys keep leaving mail for someone who doesn’t even live here on our door steps. And I can only assume you think this girl lives in our apartment when she doesn’t. I can’t wait until you find out so that you can blame us, the residents, for not sharing that piece of information. But short of not wanting a random roommate, we don’t find that it is any of our business to inform you all that we have an empty room in our place of dwelling.

All in all I need the customer service to be better. If I say that I need my garbage disposal fixed, I don’t want to have to wait a whole week to have to get that done. If I put in a request that have something placed in my apartment, it shouldn’t take two weeks to have it arrive. If we are suppose to have a fire extinguisher in our apartment, why don’t we have one? I need Campus View Apartments to get it together and quick because your residents will not be putting up with it for too much longer.

Sincerely,

A Displeased Tenant

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
