An Open Letter to my cats

Just call me crazy cat lady.

An Open Letter to my cats
Paiton Lami

First of all, I want to let all three of you know that your dad and I love you all very much and love you all equally.

All my life, I lived with a dog family. My mom never liked cats, and while my dad didn't mind outside cats, we never had any ourselves. This made me start wanting a cat. I remember when I went tour pointyo stay with my great aunt for sign-language camp (do not judge me) and one of my great uncles asked if she wanted to take care of a litter of kittens his cat had. She said sure. The older I got, the more I yearned for my own kitten. Austin and I would visit our family friend, the resident cat lady, and fell in love with all of her cats. When Austin finally got his own apartment, I was ready.

And then we got you, Hamilton. Hammi you were a little rascal when we got you and you were barely bigger than my hand. When you were younger you loved hanging from things and falling asleep in between my crossed legs while I played games. Now, at one-years-old, you are an old man; you have an old soul. I love that your favorite things to do are people watch, play with straws, and aggressively cleaning your brothers. Hammi, you are my big lovable boy but I'll always remember fondly from when you fit perfectly on my chest.

Dionysus, Dio, you are our sweet daddy's boy. You took one look at your dad and picked up, cuddling up to him and immediately fall asleep in his lap. You are our cuddler and shoulder cat. I love how you always love to be around people and how you so badly need to be by people and be petted that you sometimes you full on knocking our phones out of our hands for attention. Your our pointy boy who sometimes doesn't know how to put your claws away. You are so sweet and cuddly.

Apollo, you were just along for the ride when your dad was picked by your brother and you two didn't want to be separated. It just so happened that you became my momma's boy. You are a silly nutball. I love how you great us at the door and immediately flop over. It's even weirdo that you liked to be kicked when you flop, our little flopper. You are so cooky and love to follow after me. I am so thrilled that you came with Dio because you are my little runt. You are such a small, unique black cat who constantly covers himself in the dirt on our floor by flopping and sliding your way through life.

I love you all and couldn't imagine not having my little fur family. You three have turned me into a crazy cat lady and I do not regret it at all. Every day, I look forward to coming and seeing you and being attacked by all the love of my babies.

Love,

Momma

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
