A Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend

Distance makes the heart grow fonder

A Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend
Tessa Giamberdino

Dear Best Friend,

I still remember the day that we met. I never knew that one hello would turn into one of the best friendships that I have ever had. I was so lucky to spend three years in high school with you, and I must admit that leaving you was one of the hardest things that I have ever had to do.

We have been best friends now for four years, but it seems like so much longer. We have made so many good memories together that I will never forget. Being away from you while at school has been hard. You are one of the only people who has truly ever understood me, and I love the fact that even after not seeing each other for months, we can pick up right where we left off as if I had never left.

You have been one of the most important people in my life for the past four years, and you always amaze me at how strong and wonderful you are. Thank you for being that person who I can be stupid and crazy with. I know that I will never have to act on a crazy idea alone because you will always be right there beside me encouraging me. Thank you for always being understanding when I get busy at school and I forget to text you back or back out on a time to FaceTime each other.

Some people say that long distance friendships are hard, yet here we are closer than ever. The truth is, being apart from you sucks. Although we don't see each other every day anymore and we don't spend as much time as we used to together even though we wish we could, you're still my best friend. You will always be my best friend. I will always love you no matter what. 150.5 miles will never keep our friendship apart.

Love,

Your Forever Best Friend

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
