You have only been in my life for almost two months, but you have already impacted my life in so many ways. You came into my life when my world was falling apart, and taught me to laugh again. The first day that I met you was the first day of band camp and your first introduction to college life. Being a senior, I never thought that I would connect with a freshman like I immediately connected with you. I appreciated your sense of humor from day one, and I knew we would become close friends. I never imagined we would be to the point that we are at now - spending all day, every day together.
When I lost my aunt this summer, it was like I lost my big sister, and I never thought I would be able to find a friendship like that again. Then I met you. You've become like my little sister, and there's so much about our friendship that reminds me of the relationship I had with my aunt. Your sense of humor and your desire to love everyone that you come in contact with reminds me so much of her, and I think that's part of why we're such great friends.
You may not realize it, but you've been the person to get me through the most difficult days. You are my voice of reason when I'm about to lose my mind. I never thought that I would be able to trust someone so completely so soon after meeting them, but you are the exception. I trust you with my life and am so thankful that I found a friend like you.
I hope you know how much I love you and care about you. I want to be one of your biggest cheerleaders. I've been where you are, and I want you to know that I'm always here for you. Go ahead and call me "Grandma Becky," but just know that with age comes wisdom. It's crazy how much changes from freshman year of college to senior year, but I want to be here for you as you walk through all of that.
I know we don't like to talk about it, but when I graduate in May, know that I'll still come visit you as much as I can. You are one of the best friends that I've ever had, and me moving back home will never change that. Your college years will fly by, and before you know it, you'll be almost done with college. Don't wish it away and make every minute count. I'm so thankful that God brought us both to CU and has allowed us to become such great friends.
So, on your birthday, I want you to know how much I love you and appreciate our friendship. I hope that you have an awesome day, and that I haven't made you cry too much already. Happy 19th birthday, Sheyann!
Love,
Becca
