To my best friend getting married:

Girl, we used to talk about this, dream about it, laugh about the day when we would get engaged. Now, look at you living the dream. I just want you to know that I am so excited for you.

We traded clothes, called to give the date debrief, prayed together and for each other, we experienced a lot together. You have been my rock and my close friend. I know that when all seems lost you are always there. You are the sweetest, most cheerful, loving, caring, little firecracker to ever walk the earth. I have become a stronger person because of you and I know God brought us together. Now the time has come when I have to share you….. with a boy.

This seems to be the phase of life we are in, everyone is getting engaged, starting to get married and moving on to the next phase of life. The stars have seemed to align for you. Your job, your future plans all seem to be fitting together perfectly. I can see God working in your life, making things right just for you and your love.

You are an inspiration to me. You proved to me if you let God run your life he will give you the storybook ending we all dreamed of when we were little. Real love does exist and you have shown everyone that. People may try to make you doubt, but when God writes your story it is undeniable.

There are big things coming in your future, exciting things, but I know you can handle it and I will always be here as your best friend. Life is about growing and changing but good girlfriends are hard to come by and even husbands can’t replace them. I want you to know that I love you and I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished.

I wish you weren’t moving so far away, you were already far, and now it feels like you are moving farther, but I know this is where you need to be, and I leave you in good hands, the hands of your now new fiancé and the hands of the Father who will continue to lead you.

You are paving the way for me. Forging ahead into adult life and the married life; I need you to take good notes for me and report back on the good and the bad. Let me know what I need to know before I get there.

Now as our phone conversations start to transition from dates, and homework assignments, to wedding dresses, and color schemes, I am so glad you are happy and that you found the love of your life. You deserve to be happy and I know you will be.

Now as your best friend, he better take care of you or you know I will fly over there and whoop him, but I know I won’t need to.

Love,

Your overjoyed best friend

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.
