A Letter To My Baby Nephew

Dear Noah,

You are so lucky.

I know you are too young to realize this right now, but you have the best mom in the world.

See, I'm lucky too.

I am lucky because your mom is my sister. She has been by my side for twenty years, helping me grow into the person that I am today. She has taught me how to be strong and kind. Your mom is a beautiful person and you need to make sure she knows that.

Make sure, you thank her.

Thank her for loving you unconditionally, because she will.

Thank her for teaching you to ride a bike some day, even though she can barely ride one herself.

Thank her for dressing you in the most stylish baby clothes on the market. She has good taste, trust me - I didn't steal her clothes all those years for nothing.

Thank her for teaching you about God. He will help you when she cannot.

Thank her for being the weird earthy-crunchy freak that she is. Enjoy your organic vegetables and daily vitamins - Thank here for keeping you healthy.

Thank her for embarrassing you in front her friends when she interrupts your games to bring you snacks.

Thank her for being the most protective mom possible. Let's face it, you will be a mama's boy and she will be clingy. Embrace it.

Thank her for trying to decorate you first dorm room or your first apartment. Let her do DIY projects for days. Let her ruin your man cave with mason jars. It'll make her happy and you can hide them when she's not there.

Thank her for taking a million pictures and videos of you. You'll want them someday - And trust me, all of your future girlfriends will love you even more for how cute you were as a baby.

Thank her for everything. She deserves to hear it.

If I could learn so much from her growing up, Lord only knows how much you can learn from her raising you. She will teach you to be strong and kind, as she did me. She will teach you how to love and how to stand up for what you believe in. She will teach you not to give up.

Your mom will never give up on you. She will never stop believing in you.

Please make sure you thank her.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
