Letter To My Roommate

Getting to know each other, one awkward moment at a time

Letter To My Roommate
Melissa Walkup

Dear Roomie,

I love you! I never would have thought we would be as close as we have gotten this year. It all started when my rooming plans fell through last spring. I had no idea what I would do, and I was terrified I wouldn’t get a roommate, or that I would be assigned to a random room. When Laura told me that her friend needed a roommate, I was reluctant, but I didn’t have another choice. I remember that we got lunch on a Friday and had so much in common. You love makeup; I love makeup. Actually, that was the only thing, but it was good enough. We chatted on Facebook for a while and we decided how we wanted to set up our room. Soon, August came, and I moved in. I remember that you helped me move in, and by the end of the first week of classes, I was fully moved in (again, sorry it took me that long).

Thank you for everything. For laughing with me, crying with me, listening to me vent about boys and family drama. Thank you for praying for me and for being one of the best friends I could ask for. Thanks for being an example of a godly woman and for holding me accountable when I’m not. I constantly fail, but you still love me, and for that, you’re truly the best, and I’m so thankful you’re my roommate. Keep on doing you.

Love,
Your crazy (but awesome?) roommate.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
