A Letter To My Long Distance Boyfriend

My Love,

I know this whole long distance relationship is hard, but I also know we can do it. I know every day is one day closer to the next time I'll see you but it's hard to wait. I hate being without you for weeks or months at a time. I hate not being by your side. But I love being your girlfriend and I know we can make it work because love is greater than distance.

Even though I don't get to see you in person every day, at least, I get to talk to you. Whether it be via text, a phone call, or a video chat. Video chat is my favorite way to communicate because I get to hear your voice and see your face, but it's still not the same. But it's definitely better than nothing. And for now, I guess that's okay.

I love how we can stay up all night talking over video chat about random things or stupid drama in our lives. We play games and make memories even though we're hundreds of miles apart. We can talk for hours and hours and never run out of things to talk about. That's one thing I love about you.

Since I don't get to see you every day, it makes the times I do see you so much better. I look forward to seeing you and cherish the time we have together. If we saw each other each and every day, the time we spent together wouldn't be as special. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see you every day, but since I don't, the times I do get to see you and be in your arms are the best days of my life.

Neither of us wants to do this distance thing forever. But I know that if we can get through it now, we will never have to do it again. These four years may be tough, but after that, we won't have to be apart for these amounts of time again. We have summer and winter breaks when we'll get to see each other for the longest periods of time. Even though they're not great, they're better than nothing.

I love you. I wouldn't trade you or our relationship for the world. I love everything about you. There is nothing negative I can say because you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You're the sweetest, most caring guy I've ever had the pleasure of dating and I'm so lucky to call you mine.

I've been in a couple of long distance relationships and didn't think they were too difficult. However, doing this with you is so difficult because I just want to spend every moment with you. In the past, I could do it because it was really the only type of relationship I had known and the distance wasn't as bad. Now, we're really far apart and I love you too much to be without you.

Thank you for being you. You've changed my life and I can't wait to see you in a few weeks. I love you.

Your Girlfriend

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
