Dear Little Sister,
I know we have never been the closest, but I want you to know that I love you dearly. We have had many fights and petty arguments, but we have made it through it all. Whether you were stealing my clothes or just doing things I didn't approve of, I have loved you through it.
Since I have gone to college and you have moved away, our bond has seemed to grow. You have realized that I truly do care about you, and I have realized that even though you drive me absolutely insane, I would never want you out of my life. As your older sister, I just want what is best for you and want you to do great in life. I want you to know that no matter what, I will always be here for you no matter the distance.
As your older sister I want you to know a few things. You need to always believe in yourself, no matter what anyone says to you. You need to see your true beauty without all that makeup and love yourself for who you really are. I know you struggle with that because all of the "standards" that they set in magazines and multiple other forms of media. You define your own beauty and self-confidence, so make it count.
While many other people make stupid decisions, try to make the smartest one. You will thank me later. I have witnessed many stupid mistakes being made and do not want you to do the same. The consequences of bad decisions could change your life forever, good or bad. Be the smarter and wiser one when it comes to making any important, life-changing decisions.
As you get older, I hope you understand why I always hounded you about certain things. I just want what is best for you and for you to love your life. I hope you realize why I always tried to be "your mom" at some points in life because you needed it. I know you always hated it, but I had to for your sake. Even though you probably didn't listen to me half the time, I hoped you were getting something out of my lectures to you.
The final thing I want you to know is that you are precious and you deserve the best. I know you have had quite a few boyfriends, but just know the right one will come along. When he does, know that I will be there to make sure he treats you right and loves you for who you are.
Thank you for being my little sister, even though you drive me up the wall most of the time. I love you with all of my heart and know that if you ever need anything, I am always here even if I am away at college. Don't ever be afraid to come to me for advice but just know that I will tell you the honest truth.
Sincerely,
-Your Older Sister
